Charlie Parker (1920–1955), affectionately known as "Bird," was one of the most influential figures in jazz history and a principal architect of bebop. Alongside artists such as Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, and Max Roach, Parker transformed jazz in the 1940s with a revolutionary musical language built on dazzling virtuosity, harmonic sophistication, and rhythmic freedom. His groundbreaking compositions—including Ornithology, Confirmation, Donna Lee, and Now's the Time—remain cornerstones of the jazz repertoire, and his improvisational style continues to inspire musicians around the world.
